We celebrated Hannukah this evening with a beautiful song sung by Alexander and a makeshift menorah. We capped off a dinner of Chicken Picata with peach yogurt sprinkled with Maine blueberries. Here's wishing everyone a brilliant holiday season!

Happy Hannukah to you all! Now we all look forward to the arrival of Messiah (whenever he comes)
I have looked up Hannukah in the dictionary, unfortunately I can't find the word.
But..Happy Hannukah to all - whatever it is :-)
And Michael - we have heard that you are doing a short visit in Rumford - oh, we envy you - give my son a big hug from me.
Best wishes from Mette
Hey Mette,
It's confusing because there are different spellings of the Jewish Festival of Lights:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanukkah
http://www.holidays.net/chanukah/
Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, & a Brilliant Winter Solstice!
Rich
dear Mette!
We will hug and kiss Peter from you, if he let us.
For the long story about Hannukah, take Rich´s advice and look it up on Wikipedia. It´s all about the temple and the return of the jews from slavery, to freedom, in Jerusalem
For us secular jews, it is all about spoiling our kids with gifts during the month of December since this is what Christmas and Hannukah have in common, these days. Since Marie is not jewish we tend to be very bi-cultural this period of the year.
