Aunt Connie's Generosity at Christmas & Hannukah
Connie has spent the past few weeks creating a wall hanging of Maine for both boys. Handmade and crafted with love, the wall hangings have already found their way onto the boys' walls. And for years to come we know these special gifts will follow the boys from the rooms and houses of their lives. Connie also searched the Internet for traditional recipes from Denmark and Sweden, and each boy received a bag full of various goodies. She and ben also gave each boy a book about Maine as well as a very personal book. For their part, the boys went shopping several weeks ago for Connie and selected a 14ct gold cross and chain celebrating Connie's faith. And for Ben... Alex and Peter are waiting to deliver the goods :-) in the next few days.
All of us feel blessed with the friendships that have blossomed among the Venskuses, Szeps, Krause-Kjaers, and the Kents. Pax....

Near-Blizzard Conditions in Maine...
Peter did the first sweep of snow on the back deck of the house. 30cm-45cm of snow is expected in Maine this evening. The wind will pick up later on tonight and white-out conditions will make driving near impossible. The temperatures have been hovering around 0 degree F.... In all of this we can say that it'll be a white Christmas and... the skiing will be fabulous!
Two new members of the Kent Family arrive this week!
On Thursday, December 18th, Tanya, Michael, Olivia, and Ella Viti welcomed a third little red-haired girl, Sienna Grace. Congratulations!
And on Sunday, December 21, Marion, Zack, and Piper Lodato welcomed little boy Sonny Guiseppe (pictured here)! Congratulations!

After the storm
We had a winter storm that left much of New England suffering without power. Most places received freezing rain and the ice broke tree limbs and disabled power. In Rumford's western mountains, six inches of snow and then rain created a winter wonderland. Here's the view from the second floor sports' room.

Community Christmas Concert
Connie sang in the annual concert and the boys presented her with flowers after the performance. Great job, Aunt Connie!
Also in the Christmas concert was Judith Kuhn (below), Alex's voice teacher and Rich's former colleague, choral director, and music teacher. Alex presented Judy with a bouquet of flowers, too. The two-and-a-half hour concert is a traditional small town celebration in America combining traditional Christmas songs with a small religious set. We also ran into our neighbors, The Bartash's, former back-up host parents for Rich's exchange students. We also chatted briefly with Rich's longtime friend and editor Anne Wood... and, of course, her wonderful sister Betty!
